September Action Items

Welcome to our membership page for our upcoming meeting. There is a lot to cover so we wanted to make it handy for you to access upcoming tasks for our members.

First Item: MARK Your Calendars! - We have our September meeting scheduled for September 27th at 2 pm. This will be a VIRTUAL meeting through Zoom to allow all our members join. Feel free to get together with other members to call in.
Second item: Nominations for Board members see below for timing, responsibilities, etc . Nominations are due September 18, 2026, Voting September 19th - 25th
Third item: By Law Amendments. Please review as will be bringing a motion to adopt this revised version. Minimal changes however, most of the revisions pertain to how we are currently working vs. before we started the organization. If you have questions please reach out in email or call a board member to discuss prior to the meeting on September 27th.

Join our board to help lead our organization into the future. Our organization purpose is to:

To educate the public about the history and contributions of people of Mexican descent to the State of Texas.
To promote family unity and continuing fellowship of all GREGORIO ESPARZA descendants and extended family through family events and related activities.
To create a supportive atmosphere for members who strive to continue the legacy of the Alamo Defender Gregorio Esparza and his wife Ana along with their children.
To publish and distribute periodic newsletters or other material of interest to the GREGORIO ESPARZA family and to the public.
To foster continuing research, documentation, and sharing the history of the GREGORIO ESPARZA families, from early origins in Europe, through migrations, and to the present generations.

You must be nominated by an active member in good faith. If you are nominating, ensure the person you are nominating is prepared to commit to the position and is an active member in good standing with the organization.

If there is more than one nomination, voting will take place leading up to our September meeting. Members will be given 2 weeks to vote. Sept 16th- 25th. New officers will be sworn in at that meeting.

All board members should expect to be able to use technology to access online organization documents and attend virtual meetings through out the term. See responsibilities below to get a extended view of the roles of each office.

Appoint chairperson and members of all committees, be a member and the Chair of the Executive Committee
Shall be the ex-officio member of all other committees and work closely with any event committees.
S/He shall be the only member with the power to call a meeting of the Executive Committee.
Work with the communication director on yearly newsletter and posting of upcoming events and notifications to members.
Work with the Secretary on Agendas for all meetings.

Serves in the absence of the President and shall have all the powers and duties of the President during such service. The Vice-President will also serve as Chair of the Event Planning Committees

Focused on preserving memories and stories and making them more accessible to the future generations in the family; Shall manage or catalog data or articles collected during reunions and manage family memorabilia; Shall research and maintain family history and provided updates periodically and recommend long-term, ways to preserve the Family records; Shall maintain genealogical records, keep records of the births, death, marriages, divorces and adoptions and be custodian of the Association records of the GREGORIO ESPARZA Family accesses able to the executive committee.

Keep accurate records of all meetings, conduct all correspondence at the request of the Executive Committee, and shall perform all other duties common to that office. In addition, the SECRETARY shall make available copies of the minutes from the GREGORIO ESPARZA Association Meetings in email or published to our site

Shall keep all financial records, including revenue and expenditures, and asset and liabilities, and submit detailed written reports at each meeting. Maintain and be responsible for the bank account(s) for the organization and create and maintain financial reports such as income statements etc.

Communication Director

Communication Director shall assist to collect, receive, and assemble reports, articles, and information for posting on the Association=s Website. S/He shall be responsible, in conjunction with the Executive Committee, with the aesthetics of the Association website.

Submit Nominations

Candidates for any of the stated offices shall be , Members of the Association, Must have attained an age of twenty-one (21) years, and Must be in good standing (active with dues current and working in good faith) with the Association
Candidates for any Office must prove a direct lineage to the GREGORIO ESPARZA family.
Services provided as officers of the Association or as members of committees of the Association shall be on a voluntary basis and shall carry out all the duties and responsibilities of their offices.
Terms of Office: No Officer shall serve more than two (2) full consecutive terms.
