February, we welcomed our 2023 charter members of inductees in New Braunfels. These members are willing to promote our family unity and continue fellowship of all Gregorio Esparza descendants, and extended family. Each charter member was presented with their charter member pin and lanyard. We had members come out and enjoy the event along with a ceremonial cannon blast to kick off our next year.
We were able to participate again at Esparza Elementary for Esparza Day. A few of our family members were able to represent Gregorios’s descendants and give a presentation to the kids about his life. We presented to the younger kiddos and then the older kids right after. What a great group of children who asked great questions about Gregorio and the Battle of the Alamo. A big thank you to our representatives: Jessica Pineda, George Benavides, Terri and Roy Guzman, and JoAnn Cerda.
Monday, June 26th, we had a Proclamation given at the Atascosa County Courthouse for our upcoming event on July 8th!
Esparza descendants are honored to be included in the Tejanas at the Alamo Exhibit in Dallas. An essay was written on Ana Salazar Esparza (wife of Gregorio) by Erlinda Huizar, Eloise Garza, Linda Leal, and Peggy Guerrero. The exhibit opened today at the Mexican American Museum of Texas, family members attending were Peggy Guerrero, Linda Bartz, and Steve Bartz.

Family and Friends attended the Opening Ceremony to the Commemoration of the Battle of the Alamo on February 23rd. A special Thank you to Antonio Cerda IV, Descendant of Gregorio and President of the Sons of the Republic of Texas Deaf Smith Chapter, for speaking about our Alamo hero.
he descendants had the wonderful opportunity to celebrate the 50th Anniversary with the Gregorio Esparza Elementary school in San Antonio recently. We had over 30 descendants attend. In conjunction with Hispanic Heritage Month, the Alamo celebrated Tejanos connected with the site's history. Today’s event featured local cultural organizations, descendants, living history, and more. From early San Antonio settlers to 1836 Alamo Defenders. Several descendants attended the event to discuss the Gregorio and Ana Esparza Family story with people from all over. They also shared information about our next reunion.

Thank you to all the Gregorio Esparza descendants who came out to pay their respect and honor his name during the presentation. All of Gregorio’s descendants present were given a yellow ribbon to wear proudly.
On June 20th the Esparza family reunion committee was given a proclamation from Pleasanton Mayor Travis Hall at the Pleasanton city hall. Link to article.
